When and where did you first connect with the Dominicans? What is distinctive about the Order of Preachers?
As the oldest son at the age of 12, I began to help my father raise my 3 brothers and my sister in Carlsbad, NM. God guided and supported us throughout this time. We continue to be a happy faithful Catholic family. I graduated with a Master's Degree from UNM in Albuquerque and Army Military Intelligence Veteran. Lived and worked in California and Texas in Human Resources Management.
Moved in 1999 to Las Colinas, Irving, TX and fortunately found St. Albert's Dominican Priory. God's Grace has blessed me in all ways and am thankful for my active connection with the Order of Preachers, Irving, TX. My home is 5 minutes from the Dominican Priory and I attend daily mass frequently. The distinguishing factors of the Dominican Brothers is their spiritual uplifting homilies along with their love, prayers, and care for all.
Tell us about one of your favorite memories with the Friars?
My favorite memories with the Friars is how I feel a part of the Community of Christ with them. Fr. Matt Robinson, Fr. Andy Kolzow, Fr. Bert Ebbens have been my spiritual coaches. Laughter and care for others is what is evident in their daily service. Whenever, I think of the countless uplifting moments with the Friars, I smile and am grateful to share their Christian joy.
In your opinion, how does a parish (or the larger Catholic community) benefit from Dominican Friars?
The parishes and Catholic community definitely benefit from the Friars as they actively celebrate mass at different churches, prison ministry, pastor at the University of Dallas, celebrate mass at the priory, hear confessions, student counseling, provide spiritual support for those that attend the priory, help the poor, conduct retreats for adults and students, counsel and comfort priory members, out of state retreats, support the Diocese of Dallas, recruit novices and in-house novice formation.
In what way has your friendship with the Dominican Friars impacted you personally?
I am impacted by the Dominican Brothers on a daily basis through mass, personal meetings, sharing breakfast or lunch, and interactions as friends in Christ. They helps me focus with Loving God with all my heart and mind, and loving others.
You are involved in many other charitable organizations. Why do you choose to support the Dominicans?
I am involved with several charitable organizations including Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, TN and Dallas Catholic Charities that allow me to help others in need.
I chose to support the Dominicans because of their acts of charity, Preaching the Truth, friendship, trust, and the countless ways they help others and devotion to preaching the Word of God. I find peace of mind and believe that my spiritual growth is enhanced by the Dominicans. I thank God for allowing me to contribute to the Dominican Brothers' mission and service.
