“I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? “Father, save me from this hour?” But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. Father glorify thy name.”
Arriving at the place of choice, the one syllable, “Yes”, when we know the consequence of that, “Yes” will be life-changing, unalterable, transformative. No turning back. Ever. This is the holy ground of Gethsemane. We are on this holy ground; time to remove our sandals. Time to take off our shoes. Not coerced compelled only by the desire to remain present and freely speak “Yes” in my heart and on my lips. Nothing separates us from the holy presence “I Am” with us in this moment. Nothing separates. We are one humanity in Christ.
With such awareness deepening within us, we fall on our knees. One with the One Source of all life. One with the loving creative force-we intimately know as “Abba”. One in the heart of Mercy’s own self. On this ground our seed self let’s go. Dies to “self” offering sustenance for an other. Such is love. Such is the holy, torturous ground of Gethsemane. Where our humanity, like Christ’s, finds its meaning in the heart of Truth. The Truth that love and life are one. The truth that love and life never end. Love and life, God’s own heart beating in ours. It is in this experience of Truth we know complete freedom. Only then can we muster the courage to interrupt our fear of the other. On this holy ground “master” gives way to servant. Rising, we continue our Lenten journey following Christ as he ascends to the cross revealing for us the true glory of God. For this purpose, we come to this hour.
