In our readings today, we are called to rejoice in the presence of the Risen Lord and to trust in him to provide us with hope and great joy. Because he died for us and is risen from death, we know he will always be us, guiding us to His Father. As Peter reminds in the first reading, David says of our Messiah:
I saw the Lord ever before me,
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
Therefore my heart has been glad and my tongue has exulted;
my flesh, too, will dwell in hope,
because you will not abandon my soul to the nether world,
nor will you suffer your holy one to see corruption.
You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.
Because our Lord has shown us the path of life to follow, we can confidently follow in His footsteps. We incorporate the ways He taught into our lives. We make His ways, our ways. In these times of great distress and anger in the world, we can focus on Him and His ways to find the hope and encouragement we need. We can celebrate each day by sharing his Good News with a very weary world, confidently knowing He is always with us. When we show others the great love and joy He has shown to us, we can be Christ to them and especially, to those who are stressed and discouraged. May we be filled with the Lord every day and remain confident that we are in His presence. Thank you Lord for always being with us!
