Jesus, in today’s gospel, commissioned the Apostles to “Go into the world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.” In the Acts of the Apostles, they tell the Sanhedrin that it would be impossible for them not to speak about what they have seen. Just as Jesus commissioned the Apostles, He has commissioned us to share the Good News of the Resurrection to everyone around us. After we have seen and heard all Jesus has done for us, how could we not share the Good News with others?
Just as the Apostles shared this Good News during troubled times, we are called to share the Good News with those around us during these challenging times. The stress of the pandemic, the separation from our loved ones and our Church families, and the tragic events happening in the world reveal our need to find comfort in our Lord and to support each other. As we celebrate this Easter season, we remember what Jesus has done for us and our responsibility to share His love with those around us. We need to be shining examples of His Love by keeping our eyes and hearts open to all Jesus sends us, comfort those who are struggling. We need to provide them comfort and journey with them until they find the peace we have found in our love for Jesus.
Thank you, Jesus, for suffering, for dying for us and providing us with the joy of your Resurrection. Open our hearts and minds to the sorrowful. Help us to exemplify your love to our neighbor. Amen!
