From the days of St. Dominic, the Order of Preachers has been a democratic organization. Dominicans value the experience, wisdom, and insight of a wide variety of friars in providing for the good of our mission: preaching the truth of Jesus Christ for the salvation of souls.
The Order is worldwide and organized into provinces. In the United States, there are four provinces and each has their own set of leaders and governance.
One of the most important events in a province is called the Chapter. Held once every four years, a Chapter is a gathering of friars elected from around the province to discuss changes to the province’s legislation, address important issues, and elect friars to key leadership roles, including the leader of the entire province, the Prior Provincial.
Our province will be having our 10th Provincial Chapter from May 30 to June 10, 2022. Please keep us in your prayers.
