Greetings in the Lord! For eight centuries, St. Dominic’s legacy has shaped the daily life, work, and ministry of the Dominican Friars. This legacy inspires the friars of the Province of St. Martin de Porres to follow St. Dominic’s footsteps, preaching the healing and saving message of Jesus Christ.
Please join us in giving praise and thanksgiving to our gracious God on November 3rd, the Feast Day of St. Martin de Porres, patron of the Southern Dominican Province. Born in Lima, Peru in 1579, St. Martin embraced the vocation of the Dominican Friars as a teenager by serving in the Priory infirmary and also by joyfully reaching out to the poor in the streets of Lima, until his death in 1639.
We are especially happy to announce that there are more men in formation in our Province than we have had in many years. Seven young candidates have been accepted into our Novitiate at St. Albert the Great Priory in Irving, Texas. The novices join ten other young men in formation to serve as your future priests, brothers, teachers and preachers, so the Dominican legacy may continue.
As mendicant friars, we believe that it’s through God’s providence and your generosity that we can embrace the life of prayer, community, study, and ministry. I humbly ask you to consider supporting the formation of these young men who are the next generation of Dominican Friars. Your generous gift will leave a legacy through their vocations as we continue the mission of preaching the Gospel for the salvation of souls.
You and your family are in our daily prayers and Masses. May God bless you!
Very Rev. Roberto Merced, OP
