2022 Chapter Update 1

On Monday, May 30, the capitulars checked in to the retreat center and submitted their letter, certifying their right to attend the Provincial Chapter. The three oldest friars in religion, Fr. Tom Condon, OP, Fr. Jorge Presmanes, OP, and Br. Herman Johnson, OP, certified that the capitulars were present by right or by election. The day concluded with Vespers and a social.

Tuesday, May 31, was a retreat day facilitated by Mr. Steve Givens—board member at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, MO. He is a trained spiritual and retreat director and has known the friars for several years. He gave two sessions to the capitulars in preparation for the chapter.

The capitulars celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the evening, praying for the success of the Provincial Chapter, in thanksgiving for the service of Fr. Tom Condon, OP, Fr. Victor Laroche, OP, and the members of the outgoing Provincial Council, and remembering the brothers who have died since the last Provincial Chapter (2018).
