At the Provincial Chapter, the work of the capitulars concluded today, ahead of schedule. The work of the diffinitorium will begin on Monday.
Because of the hard work that the friars have done from the very beginning, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Provincial Chapter has moved along in the spirit of charity and with the mission of preaching the Gospel always in mind.
After receiving the updates on our ill brothers at the morning session, the capitulars reviewed the remaining legislation to be approved. Immediately after all the legislation was approved, the Provincial Chapter began the remaining elections.
In the middle of the elections, the friars received the news that Fr. James (Chief) McDonough, OP died. The capitulars stopped the process momentarily, chanted the Salve Regina, and prayed for the repose of his soul.
These are the results of the elections
First Provincial Councilor: Fr. Francis Orozco, OP
Second Provincial Councilor: Fr. Eduardo Logiste, OP
Diffinitor to the First General Chapter: Br. Herman Johnson, OP
Diffinitor to the Second General Chapter: Fr. Orlando Cardozo, OP
Furthermore, Fr. Roberto Merced, OP, Prior Provincial announced that Fr. Jorge Rativa, OP would be his Socius. Please keep the friars at the Provincial Chapter in your prayers.
