The Friars of the Southern Dominican Province thank everyone who has reached out to us since Hurricane Ida hit on August 29. We deeply appreciate your prayers and thoughts.
The friars made it through the hurricane OK. There has been some minor damage to our churches and other buildings in New Orleans and Hammond. We're still assessing the impact of Ida.
The biggest issue for us is the loss of power throughout the New Orleans area. We don't know when power will be restored.
Some friars have evacuated New Orleans, but others remain.
Our Provincial Office is closed at this time due to the loss of power. We will try to return to the office as soon as we can. Please know of our prayers.
