Today’s readings inspire us to trust God even more deeply. Through the prophet Isaiah, the Lord tells us that His word will not return to Him void, but that it will achieve the end for which He sent it. The Lord is always speaking to us, and we can trust that as long as we are attentive to His word, He will continue to direct us towards the end that He desires.
The Gospel contains a similar notion of trust. Jesus states directly that the Father knows what we need before we ask Him and teaches us how we are to pray in light of that truth. It can be easy in prayer to simply list out things that we desire, asking God for all these things. However, Jesus desires us to have a deeper trust in Him and in his Father. Do we trust that God already knows what we need and that He will provide for us?
