December 14, 2020As we approach Christmas, we hear from the Prophet Balaam in our first reading: “How goodly are your tents, O Jacob; your encampments, O Israel!” He sees a vision of a star that shall rise from Jacob, and a staff that will rise from Israel. Yes, Jesus the King of Kings is coming on the horizon! Are we prepared? Are we living as sons and daughters of the Most High? The psalmist prays “Teach me your ways, O Lord. You guide the humble to justice”.
The Gospel from Matthew tells about a challenge from the chief priests and elders to Jesus. “By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?”
The truth is they don’t really want His answer they just want to discredit this wonder-worker in their midst. As believers we know that all authority comes from God and if we follow His star, we will find our heavenly home!
