Christ has made Himself manifest from the beginning of time to this day and to the end of times, always. The Holy Trinity was present at the beginning, the genesis of all that exists. God put all creation into motion and sustains it by the moment. The disciples were astonished at the power that this man had: He commanded the sea, and it obeyed! No other man has ever done that before. But He had. In the first reading, we read the Lord’s words to Job when He set limits to the proud waters. It isn’t an unnatural power for Him who is the omnipotent, the all-powerful.Reflexión por Fray Carlos Salas, OP:
Cristo se ha manifestado desde el principio del tiempo hasta este día y hasta el fin de los tiempos, siempre. La Santísima Trinidad estaba presente al principio, en el génesis de todo lo que existe. Dios puso en marcha toda la creación y la sostiene en existencia cada momento. Los discípulos estaban asombrados ante el poder que tenía este hombre: ¡le mandó al mar y este obedeció! No otro hombre jamás había hecho eso antes. Pero Él lo había hecho. En la primera lectura, leemos las palabras del Señor para Job cuando Él delimitó a las aguas arrogantes. No es un poder fuera de su naturaleza para Él que es el omnipotente, el todopoderoso.Something to think about: - The Lord speaks to Job out of the storm. In today’s Psalm, “He hushed the storm to a gentle breeze.” And He was in the boat with the disciples in the storm. Notice that the Lord is in the midst of the storm in these stories. Out of the storm, He brings calm. Only God can be in the midst of the storm and remain unchanged. We, however, require His assistance. Jesus asks you, “Why are you terrified?”
- St. Paul points out that, after knowing Christ, life according to the flesh is no more. That is, we cannot live in sin while professing to live in Christ. It isn’t a cursing of all that is tangible and created; instead, it is a constant call to repentance. We are never alone. Christ is in the midst of the storm with us. Notice that He waited for the disciples to wake Him up. Your Lord is there with you in the storm: ask Him to still it to a gentle breeze.
Algo en que pensar: - El Señor le habla a Job desde la tormenta. En el Salmo de hoy, “Cambió la tempestad en suave brisa y apaciguó las olas.” Y estaba en la barca con los discípulos en la tormenta. Tome en cuenta que el Señor está en medio de la tormenta en estas historias. Desde la tormenta Él trae la calma. Solo Dios puede estar en medio de la tormenta y permanecer en perfecto estado. Nosotros, sin embargo, requerimos de Su asistencia. Jesucristo te pregunta, ¿Por qué tienes tanto miedo?
- San Pablo nos señala que, después de conocer a Cristo, la vida de acuerdo a los criterios humanos ya no es. Es decir, no podemos vivir en pecado y profesar vivir una vida en Cristo. No es una maldición sobre todo lo hecho por el hombre; al contrario, es una llamada constante al arrepentimiento. Nunca estamos solos. Cristo está en el medio de la tormenta con nosotros. Vea que Él se esperó a que los discípulos lo despertaran. Tu Señor está ahí contigo en la tormenta: pídele que la calme a una brisa suave.
