One of the most important things we can do as Christians is to invite others to know Christ. Sometimes there is nothing else we need to say other than the words, “Come and See.” Jesus knows we are coming, and he knows our hearts, but he will not force himself on us, we must go to him. Nathanael realizes this and asks Jesus, “how do you know me?”
We are in the middle of the Christmas season, and for most of us, we have returned to work, or we are getting ready for the new semester to begin. And, for most of us, the meaning of Christmas has faded away into storage boxes and online posts to be opened again next year. Jesus however wants our relationship with him to continue, not to be stored away. He promises Nathanael and us, “you will see greater things than this.”
This Christmas season officially ends on January 8, when we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. When we invite someone to come and see, it is just the beginning, it is the first step to knowing and following Christ. It is still the season of Christmas, invite someone to come to know Christ.
