“God is love” (1 John 4:16) as we read in today's first reading. This declaration by St. John the Evangelist reveals the nature of God. In the Blessed Epiphany, God reveals Himself.
What is God but love! “Whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him” (1 John 4:16) the verse concludes. What is eternal life but life in God? How do we enter into God but by the Church? What is the Church but Christ’s Kingdom? What is citizenship in Christ’s Kingdom, but Sonship? What is a son if he does not resemble his father?
Therefore, let us be like God and love, so “that we have confidence on the day of judgment” (1 John 4:17).
